nib foundation appoints new board member from within

nib foundation has announced the appointment of Matthew Neat to the Hunter-based charitable organisation’s Board of Trustees.

Bringing more than 20 years experience in the Corporate Communications sector to nib foundation, Matthew has been working with nib health funds since October 2007 and is currently Head of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations. His responsibilities cover corporate affairs and media, investor relations, employee communications and events, as well as sponsorship for the nib Group.

Matthew is the first nib employee to be appointed to the foundation’s Board. As such, they believe he brings not only a wealth of company experience but also has considerable background in the work of the foundation and an ability to leverage mutual benefit for its partnerships by aligning with nib’s broader operations.

Matthew said he is looking forward to working with the foundation’s Board to help fund community-based programs that meet the needs of young people and carers in an engaging and practical way.

“Having been across the work of the foundation for many years through my role with nib, I’m proud to be offered the opportunity to be a part of the Board and given a chance to play a hand in the incredible causes nib foundation supports,” Matthew said.

“I’ll be joining the team in the lead up to the 2016 Community Grant Program, so I’m excited to see the range of innovative programs that come through this year’s applications and how our funding will be used to help address significant social causes both locally and on a national scale.”

Now in its eighth year of giving, the foundation has committed more than $15 million in funding to over 95 programs that are making a measurable difference to the health and wellbeing of people and communities across Australia.

The 2016 Community Grant funding round will be open from 1-30 June and eligible charities and community groups are invited to apply for grants of between $5,000 to $50,000 to help fund programs that aim to improve the health outcomes of vulnerable and disadvantaged Australians.
