WEA Hunter has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors, adding to the wealth of governance and practical experience in the community educator. The new board members are Rowena Sigelski, Todd Saddington and Kelsey Barrett, and all have a passion for lifelong learning.

Rowena is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. She studied at the University of Sydney, completing a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accounting and commercial law in 1995. Currently she leads a team of specialists as the Group Premium Revenue Manager (Australia & New Zealand) at nib Health Funds. Previous roles included with chartered accounting firms in Sydney and Newcastle specialising in business reconstruction and turnaround, before moving into a commercial role with nib.

Todd graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accounting and finance, and began working in the stockbroking industry. From there he worked at various investment banks and financial institutions in London and Sydney. A move to St George Bank led him to undertake roles ranging from strategy to senior finance manager. Being a proud Novocastrian, the pull to return was too great and in 2011 he came back and moved into the manufacturing industry, working in various senior management finance roles. Todd is CPA qualified and has completed one of his career goals by coaching both of his sons’ junior soccer teams.

Kelsey is a director at the Kumalie Group and has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate sustainability with clients in Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, the UK and Switzerland. Kelsey advises on sustainability strategy, policy, reporting and communications. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle in 1994, and has studied Sustainability Leadership at Harvard University. Over the years she has been a guest speaker at universities in Australia, the Netherlands and at many local industry forums. Kelsey is an advocate of lifelong learning and of making quality education accessible for all.

WEA Hunter Chairman, Martin Coates said the expertise of the new directors will be beneficial to the organisation.
“The new directors provide additional skills that will enable WEA Hunter to move forward and create new initiatives that will ultimately connect our community with learning opportunities,” Martin said.

Rowena, Todd and Kelsey join a board comprising of Martin Coates as Chair, Christopher Seysener as his deputy, and Samantha Atkin, Megan Lugg, Merran Magill and Anna Starrett.
