Manufacturing Awards will highlight Hunter’s leaders

The Hunter Manufacturing Awards (HMA) has invited nominations to its thirteenth year of recognising leadership and innovation in manufacturing.

Manufacturing businesses in the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast will put their best food forward to demonstrate their commitment to best practices for the opportunity to have their business showcased as an industry leader.

The organisers of the awards work collaboratively with key regional organisations to highlight the achievements of the region’s manufacturers and the importance of manufacturing in general for the economy.

With such a proud history of manufacturing in the region, the awards are designed to ensure the industry continues to play an integral role in the Hunter’s future.

The organisers and judges of this year’s awards are looking forward to receiving what they believe will be a high caliber of entries for 2017.

Judges said that with traditional manufacturing disappearing and economic conditions squeezing margins, tinkering at the edges is never going to cut it. Last year’s entries proved something big for the industry, and the same dedication to innovation is expected in this year’s round of entries.

2016 Chairman, Bob Cowan said the commitment to being at the forefront of manufacturing by local businesses and business owners is the message that the awards share.

“None of us can afford to get stuck in the past and we must always strive to move forward. We need to continually adapt, tweak and change when and where necessary,” Bob said.

“It is very easy to stay in our comfort zone and even though a lot of companies have built on the success of their past, they have had to build on and refine those successes to still be here today.”

The Manufacturer of the Year and the HMA Board Award winners will both receive an individual prize of a trip to an overseas destination of their choice where they can attend an event or expo that will assist them to expand and grow as well as showcase themselves in the global marketplace.

Award nominations close on 18 August 2017, with the award ceremony held on 20 October 2017 at Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre, Newcastle.
