Associate Professor Dr James French has joined the Charlestown-based Hunter Plastic Surgery.

After having put out the call last year for a new surgeon when it became clear that the demand in Newcastle for breast reductions, lifts and revision of implants was just too strong for Dr Moncrieff alone, James was quick to jump on board to support women in the Hunter.​

With his own success as a leading breast surgeon and Specialist General Surgeon, with over 30 years’ experience in medicine and surgery, the Hunter Plastic Surgery team say they are excited to be able to add James’ name to the calibre of expertise they offer clients.

Co-Founder and Specialist Plastic Surgeon, Dr Nicholas Moncrieff, said that this is a great opportunity to meet the demand in the region and is also a full-circle moment for their team.

“James is one of Australia’s most experienced breast surgeons and in fact supervised some of my training in Sydney over twenty years ago,” Nicholas said.

“Due to overwhelming demand for breast surgery from women in Newcastle, I asked Dr French if he would be willing to join my practice and help even more local women lead healthier, happier lives.

“And luckily for us, and the women of the Hunter, he was quick to accept this offer.”

James has been transitioning into the Hunter Plastic Surgery team in recent months, working alongside Nicholas in the operating theatre and in the clinic and will officially start seeing new patients this month.

Having James join the team means that Hunter Plastic Surgery will be able to offer breast surgery patients more choice in terms of their surgeon, operating dates, and fees.

James said that making the decision to join the Hunter Plastic Surgery team was easy having already formed a special professional relationship with Specialist Plastic Surgeon, Nicholas.

“It was easy for me to agree to joining Dr Moncrieff and his team. I’ve known Nick for over two decades, and we have always enjoyed a great working relationship, sharing knowledge and experience over the years,” James said.

“I have a passion for helping patients through breast surgery and look forward to making life a little easier for Newcastle women.”
