Lake Mac Business awards closing soon

Lake Macquarie businesses have less than two weeks remaining to get their entries in for the 2014 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards.

The Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards are an initiative of the Business Growth Centre,  the aim of which is to recognise business excellence and celebrate the outstanding achievements of local businesses and their contribution to the Lake Macquarie community.

Beth Webb, of Webb’s Gallery in Kahibah, was a finalist and winner at the 2012 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards and believes that entering the Awards is a valuable process for any business.

“Having just started my new business, I didn’t think I had a chance at winning, but I saw the application process as a great opportunity to stop and take measure of where I was, how I got there, and most importantly, where I was going,” Beth said.

“The day-to-day activities of running a small business keep me pretty busy and I know only too well how hard it is to take time out to measure how you’re going. By entering the Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards I had a template to work with, set questions to respond to and a firm deadline. I would urge anyone in business to look at the Awards, not only as a way to get your name up in lights, but as a great tool to use in analysing the core of your business.”

Business Growth Centre Manager, Brett Gleeson agrees with Beth and advises that entering the 2014 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards provides a multitude of benefits for local businesses.

“By entering the Awards, businesses will have the chance to reflect upon their achievements and the entry process can assist business owners with planning for a positive future,” Brett said.

“Being chosen as a finalist or winner provides valuable recognition of a business’ accomplishments, and being an Award winner is a profound acknowledgement of market leadership and achievement in business excellence.”

Lake Macquarie businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to profile their business and showcase their achievements to the local community by submitting an entry for one or more of the 14 Award Categories and three Major Awards via their website.

Winners of the 2014 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner on Saturday, 12 July 2014, with entries closing on Saturday, 3 May 2014.

Lake Macquarie Business

We believe it’s important for Lake Macquarie’s businesses and community to prosper.

In November 2013, Lake Macquarie business leaders and local Business Chambers identified that the broader Lake Macquarie business community lacked a clear identity and was not currently receiving the attention and support it deserved.

Several local Business Chambers decided that a unified approach through amalgamation would enable them to better support the entire Lake Macquarie business community helping the city to thrive and prosper.

In October 2015 LMB was incorporated as a not-for-profit, Company Limited by Guarantee. A diverse group of passionate, energetic business owners and community leaders have come forward from around the lake to be foundation leaders and Board Members of LMB and this new approach to supporting Lake Macquarie businesses and community.
