Educative events helping businesses raise the bar

Business owners in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter were encouraged to make 2015 a year for growth at the first Raise the Bar event.

The launch of Raise the Bar was held at Crown Plaza Newcastle on Monday, 4 May 2015 with 85 business owners in attendance.

Kerwin Rae, an expert in the art of leadership and cultural development for small business, was the speaker at the launch event and provided an insight into the seven deadly pitfalls of business.

Raise the Bar co-founder Rachael Sheldrick said that people attended the event with the aim to educate themselves, empower their business and grow.

“The audience was captivated for two hours as he explained the blueprint for business success,” Rachael said.

Raise the Bar was conceived by Rachael, who also runs GS Mechanical and Adele Martin of Firefly Wealth. They identified that even though there are a number of events that offer high profile speakers available to business people of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie; there wasn’t an event that specifically encouraged businesses to strive to be better and provide them with the tools to do so.

“The aim of Raise the Bar is to do just that; help businesses raise the bar in all facets of their operation and take their business from stable to outstanding,” Rachael continued.

“For Adele and myself the launch event re-affirmed our belief that Newcastle business owners are hungry for knowledge and new ways of doing business. We are repeatedly asked if we would be running future events for Raise The Bar, and the answer is yes, definitely. We hope to run a total of five events this year.”

Raise the Bar will be held a number of times throughout the year. The speaker for the 29 June 2015 event has been confirmed and details will be provided in the coming weeks.  It is anticipated that Raise the Bar will present speakers who can help owners take the next step with a number of functionalities in their business including operations, human resources, finances, marketing and more.
