DSI Underground has announced the appointment of Britt Cook as the company’s first Executive HR & Organisational Development Manager. Reporting directly to Regional Chief Executive Officer, Derek Hird, the newly-created position has been developed to drive the HR strategy in support of the overall business plan and expanding strategic direction of the company.
With extensive senior consulting experience in Human Resources Management, Britt has several years of experience partnering with small to large companies across Australia and the globe within the manufacturing, construction, finance, health, real estate and retail industries. Commencing her career as a HR and WHS generalist and now specialising in industrial relations, organisational development and change management, most recently Britt has been working with local, globally-servicing business advisory, FiveSeven Consulting.
Derek said Britt’s experience is perfect for the role and in supporting the strategic direction of DSI Underground for the future.
“The role of HR & Organisational Development Manager was created to oversee DSI’s HR management and facilitate organisational success. The position will enable us to align structural, cultural and strategic direction to ensure DSI continues to evolve in our current markets,” Derek said.
Britt said she is honoured to have the opportunity to join DSI at such a pivotal time for the company.
“I very much Iook forward to the challenges and excitement that come with doing what needs to be done in order to create a scalable people strategy to drive the business forward and shape a high-performing and engaging culture,” Britt said.
Joining the Executive Management Team, Britt has also become the first female Executive of DSI Underground Australia.
The announcement of Britt’s appointment comes just under a month after DSI Underground publicised they had signed an agreement to acquire 100 percent of privately-owned Fero Group Pty Ltd. The acquisition is currently under review for approval by regulatory authorities. Once approved, DSI’s manufacturing capability will expand to galvanising and mesh, increasing the company’s product and service offerings, and their exports to African and Asian mining markets.
“The timing of Britt’s appointment is crucial to our growth strategy,” Derek said.
“DSI is committed to supporting our customers by providing innovative products and systems for the underground mining and tunnelling sectors.
“This is supported by the announcement of the recent potential acquisition of Fero. Britt will be an integral part of our HR Steering Committee to support employee selection and integration which will position the company for future success.
“DSI is committed to manufacturing in the Hunter and well positioned to support market growth.”
