Child Inclusive Mediation now available at Blue Sky Mediation

Blue Sky Mediation are now offering Child Inclusive Mediation with the expertise of Child Consultant, Kim Coshaw to assist parents in reaching agreements.

Director of Blue Sky Mediation, Anna Roberts said their business is focused on helping families reduce financial burden and avoid the emotional pain that comes with a court case.

“Blue Sky Mediation has been around for several years now. We have been quietly helping parents resolve their property and parenting disputes, reducing their legal costs, and enabling them to avoid court,” Anna said.

Mediation is becoming an increasingly popular option for separated parents as the Family Court system continues to let families down with the drawn out timeframes, extended emotional distress and escalating legal costs involved.

“Separated parents who are in dispute over property or parenting matters wait 12-18 months to be heard in Court as opposed to resolving their dispute through mediation in 4-6 weeks,” Anna explains.

Anna Roberts is qualified Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner at Blue Sky.

“Mediation costs are generally a fraction of the cost parents will end up paying should they proceed to court, and by helping people resolve their disputes sooner we help them move on with their lives and make a fresh start,” Anna said.

When parents separate and there is a dispute about parenting arrangements it can be difficult to stay focused on agreeing on an arrangement that truly is the best for the child. Emotions are high and it is an incredibly difficult time for both parents involved.

New at Blue Sky is Child Inclusive Mediation which involves a Child Consultant in the Mediation who provides insights to the parents about how the current and future living arrangements might impact on the child’s adjustment, wellbeing, and development.

“My job is to bring the voice of the child to the mediation space to help parents resolve disputes about parenting arrangements in a way that focuses on the child’s needs and best interests,” Kim said.

Child Inclusive Mediation is a service used for resolving parenting disputes. Research shows, when compared to traditional Parenting Mediation that agreements reached in Child Inclusive Mediation is significantly more durable and workable long term for both parents, and that children experience significantly less distress as a result.

“Parents want the best for their children, and that is what Child Inclusive Mediation in terms of parenting arrangements is designed to achieve,” she said.

“It is an agreed parenting solution that will benefit their child, without the expense and long term emotional distress for all involved when waiting to go to Court.”

Kim is a fully qualified Social Worker and has more than 12 years’ experience working in the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court as a Family Consultant.
