Business advisor recognised in national awards

Business Advisor and trainer Brooke Phillips, a member of the team at The Business Centre (Newcastle Region) has won a prestigious national award for Best Regional Business Enterprise Centre Mentor.

Brooke was presented with the award at the National Small Business Development Conference held in Melbourne last week. Brooke is a Business Advisor and Trainer under the Small Biz Connect Program and has been with the Business Centre for the past three years.

The Business Centre Chair, Janice Knowles, said that Brooke has an innate ability to quickly assess the needs of small business clients.

“Relationships of trust and support are developed from face-to-face business consultations to assist clients in realising their business goals,” Janice said.

Brooke said that she was thrilled to be recognised for something she is passionate about

“I am a big believer in doing what you love, which for me is assisting small business with practical advice and a clear action plan,” Brooker said.

“Small business has supported me my whole life and it’s incredibly rewarding to support others in any way I can.”

The Business Centre located in King Street provides a range of high quality services and programs to assist the development and growth of small business across the Hunter. Services include business advisory and mentoring, workshops and training, as well as networking and industry specific programs. The Centre also operates a Small Business Innovation Centre comprising serviced offices and meeting room hire.

Many of the services and programs offered by the Business Centre are fully subsidised by the State and Commonwealth Government, with other services partially subsidised to ensure accessibility and affordability to all small business owners.

Hunter Region BEC

The Hunter Region BEC is one of over 100 BEC's that operate nationally to provide new and existing micro, small and medium business clients with practical assistance in business planning, advice on marketing, budgeting and cash flow.

The assistance offered by the Hunter Region BEC is independent and confidential. Fees are cost-effective and affordable. HRBEC can assist in the areas of the establishment of new small business enterprises and existing small to medium enterprises who are experiencing issues, want to grow , or just want to be better.
