Centennial's Chairman, Bob Cameron will be speaking to the local business community at an upcoming Lake Macquarie Foundation breakfast event.
The Lake Macquarie Foundation is a not-for-profit, charitable community foundation created by and for the people of Lake Macquarie.
Lake Macquarie Foundation CEO, Jo Bright, said that it serves as a vehicle to connect people who care, with local causes that matter by encouraging philanthropic giving in the Lake Macquarie area.
“The Foundation is all about achieving a long term vision for Lake Macquarie which is to make our community more resilient, resourceful and ready for the future,” Jo said.
“To help achieve this vision we are holding a series of events to inspire, engage and motivate the local community in the hope that they use their skills to enrich the local community to ensure Lake Macquarie has a bright future.”
Bob will speak on the risks and rewards associated with business while telling the story of how he turned a small mining company into Centennial Coal.
Over a period of 21 years Bob Cameron grew what was originally Preston Coal Company, a $2million 150,000 tonne per annum mine employing 30 people, into Centennial Coal a $2.5billion 20million tonnes per annum, 10 mine operation employing 1,700 people.
“To achieve such success requires a mix of commercial acumen, calculated risk and blind self-belief,” Jo said.
“The event is a great way to increase community awareness of the Foundation while also giving back to those who attend, as they will no doubt gain a unique insight into the risk and rewards of building a successful business.”
