Local turn-around and insolvency business, Jirsch Sutherland, has thrown its support behind one of Australia’s longest running surfing competitions.
Surfing is synonymous with Australian culture and Jirsch Sutherland Director, Bradd Morelli, said sponsoring the Mattara Surf Classic is part of the firm’s commitment to supporting grass-root sporting competitions in our region.
“We have been involved with the Vanuatu Surfing Association for the past five years,” Brad said.
“This year, five Vanuatian students made history by competing in the Newcastle Surfest competition for the first time.
“Newcastle has so much to offer and we are proud to be part of events that encourage involvement from the local community, our culture and businesses.”
The competition is in its 52nd year and will hit the shores of Newcastle on 19 and 20 October, featuring four divisions including Open Mens, Junior Mens, Under 16 boys and Under 18 Girls.
The Surf Classic has historically attracted the likes of international surfers including Mark Richards, Michael Peterson, Nat Young and Damien Hardman.
The event is organised by Surfing NSW and entry forms are available through the Surfing NSW website and Surfing Newcastle Facebook site.
