A new retailer has just launched and joined the eclectic mix of businesses on Darby Street in Cooks Hill.
Steel & Anchor opened its doors on 11 May and is offering customers a hand-picked selection of home wares, men’s accessories, gifts, grooming and lifestyle products.
Located on Darby Street and also selling online, Steel & Anchor is the vision of Newcastle’s Troy Pezely.
Troy had spent over eleven years working in retail for the Country Road Group, including at the former David Jones on Hunter Street, Charlestown Square and Westfield Kotara.
During this time, he noticed that there was a gap in the market for a retailer that specialised in quality products targeted at men.
After much thought, Troy decided to back himself and Steel & Anchor was born.
What used to be known to locals as the Amazing Noodle shopfront, has quickly turned into a popular gift-shopping spot for many.
Troy said that whilst the store has a wide range of products targeted at men and people buying for men, the store does have something for everyone with a range of homewares and lifestyle products.
“The store is proving popular for locals that need to buy a gift for that hard-to-buy-for male whether that be their partner, dad, son or grandson,” Troy said.
“It’s also popular with men that want to treat themselves or get some quality natural grooming products,” he continued.
Troy personally handpicks the store’s range of products, making sure to add his personal touch to the store.
“I’ve been told I have a good eye and I appreciate great product design. I also try to select quality brands that aren’t as well known in Newcastle,” he said.
Pleased with the success of the store so far, Troy expressed that he is excited to see what the future has in store for Steel & Anchor.
“I’m thrilled at the response I’ve received since opening our store in Darby Street. We have also launched our webstore for customers that aren’t local or are busy during store trading hours,” Troy said.
Steel & Anchor can be found at 76 Darby Street Cooks Hill and is open seven days.
