Singleton Council has again been recognised as one of Australia’s best workplaces, taking out a 2025 Xref Engage Best Workplace Award following the results of its latest employee engagement survey.
The national award celebrates organisations that demonstrate exceptional people management practices that foster highly engaged, high-performing teams.
Based on the results of Council’s 2025 Engagement Survey, staff reported satisfaction levels 10 percentage points above the local government industry average.
Singleton Council’s General Manager, Justin Fitzpatrick-Barr said the recognition was especially meaningful because it was based directly on the feedback from people within the organisation.
“As a values-driven organisation dedicated to creating community, we don’t just talk about our values – we live, breathe and execute them every single day, and this recognition is a reflection of that shared commitment,” Justin said.
“It’s one thing for an organisation to say it’s a great place to work, but it’s something else entirely when the team says we’re getting it right. It’s a powerful reflection of the culture and commitment shared by everyone at Singleton Council.”
Justin said the result reflected the strength and diversity of Council’s employees, united by a shared purpose to create community.
“Local government brings together such a wide range of professions, trades and skill sets that are all working with one goal: to deliver the best possible outcomes for our community,” Justin said.
“This award confirms that the approach we’ve taken doesn’t just make Singleton Council a great employer, but an industry leader.
“There are always incredible opportunities to join our team and I’d encourage anyone looking for a career where you can add value and be valued to consider Singleton Council.”
The Xref Engage Best Workplace Awards are based on anonymous employee survey results, with winners required to achieve a response rate of at least 50 per cent, use 30 or more benchmarkable questions, and record an average satisfaction score of 80 per cent or higher, or at least 10 per cent above their industry benchmark.
