Singleton will be on show in January when the 2014 Swimming NSW Country Regional Meet brings hundreds of athletes to compete at the Singleton Gym & Swim.

Athletes and their families will spend the weekend of 4 and 5 January in Singleton competing against some of the state’s best swimmers.

The event is an opportunity to showcase the quality sporting facilities on offer in Singleton as well as give visitors the opportunity to visit attractions in the area.

Singleton Council announced that Singleton Diggers will welcome competitors and their families to enjoy the club’s facilities as a venue to relax, unwind and enjoy a meal over the weekend.

Singleton Council General Manager Lindy Hyam said that it is an example of how Council hopes many local businesses will benefit from the swim meet.

“Singleton as a whole is set to benefit from this event with visitors using local businesses for accommodation, dining, shopping and sightseeing when not competing,” she said.

“Singleton Council is proud to support this swim meet and looks forward to welcoming the many athletes and their families to our town.”

“Hosting the meet is part of Council’s strategy to host major fixture events as a direct way to build economic development.”
