Simon Rutten joins Monica Clare Recruitment

With more than fifteen years of experience in the industry, Simon Rutten is no stranger to the recruitment industry.

He has joined Monica Clare Recruitment to provide a pivotal impact on the business as Recruitment Director and lead their finance and executive/senior management recruitment services.

Simon has built up a network of executive and financial professionals and businesses looking to fill some of the high-level positions within their team.

Over that time, he has mastered senior management recruitment, which requires a different approach compared to recruitment for other roles.

Simon said that although job-for-lifers are becoming an endangered species as millennials make the move towards more flexible work opportunities, professionals at an executive level are staying with their employers longer so they can leave their mark.

Recent research shows that of the 12.7 million Australians working, professionals were more than twice as likely as managers to have changed employers over the previous 12 months. Management roles were also tracking downwards for job mobility in comparison to ABS statistics from four years ago.

“An executive level role requires someone to really immerse themselves in a business, and it can take two to three years for an executive to start adding real value to their employer,” Simon said.

“Hiring managers are becoming increasingly aware of candidates who show a lot of movement in their roles, particularly for those individuals who appear to be chasing their way up the ranks by employer hopping.”

“This has presented a real challenge for businesses looking to recruit top-level employees, as they face two complications – how to find the right fit for the organisation and how to attract top talent who aren’t as open to moving on,” he said.

Simon said one of the keys to recruiting the right executive for a business comes down to purpose.

“I recently joined the Monica Clare Recruitment team after 12 years at my previous firm. The deciding factor for me and for many candidates that I work with now is the alignment of purpose between the individual and the business,” Simon said.

“Employees who really believe in what they are doing are a much better long-term fit for an organisation than someone who is there for the paycheck or ego boost that comes with their title.

“And when it comes to finding someone who will play an influential part in the business and make decisions that could shape its future and culture, finding the right match is critical. I’m proud to now be a part of the Monica Clare Recruitment team and add to the Rolls Royce level of service they provide that ensures every business-candidate match is the right one,” he said.

Simon shares a passion for providing specialised recruitment services for unique industries, as he sees this as the Rolls Royce experience for recruitment.

Monica Clare Recruitment is going through a growth trajectory, with globally experienced Head of Talent and Client Partnerships Scott Donovan, Recruiter Georgia Harvey and Admin Assistant Sarah Matthews also joining the team.
