The Hunter Valley Visitor Centre has launched a new marketing campaign to entice visitors to rediscover the Hunter Valley.
When Cessnock City Council took over the management of the Hunter Valley Visitor Centre in August 2013, it undertook an audit of the wide range of tourism offerings there are in the region.
Economic Development Manager Jane Holdsworth said that as a result, from August to November 2014, the Hunter Valley Visitor Centre is offering a new competition to share all the offerings and activities there are to do in the Hunter Valley region.
“We took a fresh approach to identifying and promoting all the local attractions, realising that there is so much more to do in addition to food and wine,” Jane said.
“The campaign aims to enhance perceptions of what the destination has to offer, support a broader base of tourism operators and do some critical market research on product development opportunities. This exciting new initiative will ultimately support visitation to the area, and invite visitors to rediscover what they thought they knew as the ‘Hunter Valley’.”
The entry form for the ‘Experience all of the Hunter Valley’ competition lists many experiences, from food, wine and gourmet product offerings, through to golf, heritage, arts and nature based activities. An entrant is asked to tick the activities that interest them, providing their personal details and then they go into the draw to win a weekend away in the Hunter Valley valued at $2500.
“The campaign shows that in just one visit to the Hunter Valley you can start with a bubbly breakfast, play a round of golf, visit markets, pat a koala, see convict relics, ride Segway’s and go bushwalking!”
Entry is free to Australian residents aged 18 and over, with an online form to enter.
