Port Stephens Bush Fire Appeal

Port Stephens Bush Fire Appeal

Port Stephens Mayor Bruce MacKenzie has launched the Port Stephens Mayoral Bush Fire Appeal, accepting financial donations to assist those affected by the weekend’s disaster.

Kick starting the fund with a $500 Mayoral donation, Mayor MacKenzie hopes the people of Port Stephens, NSW and across the Country will dig-deep to help the locals in need.

“The mateship we have in Port Stephens is strong. We all look after each other in times of need. I know this time will be no different,” he said.

“The devastation that our fellow residents have experienced in the last 48 hours is not something anyone should have to go through in a lifetime.”

“We can’t give them back their precious family treasures, photographs or memories, but we can help them build a place to create new ones.”

Port Stephens Council is working closely with the National Australia Bank and the Department of Treasury to have a charitable account set up to accept donations from other areas but until then, Council will accept them over the counter.

For more information on how to donate, please phone (02) 4980 0255.
