Businesses across the Hunter are donning their sporting attire, limbering up their limbs and getting out of the office and onto the training field in preparation for The Mai-Wel Group’s 7th annual indoor sports challenge, Play-Wel for Mai-Wel, which will be held on Thursday, 10 November 2016 at Maitland Indoor Sports Centre.
Presented by local property investment company, In Properties for Investors, the round robin corporate sports day will see 16 teams line up to compete in indoor netball, soccer, cricket and dodgeball.
Janine Harris from In Properties for Investors, said she is excited about the event and looking forward to meeting her rivals on the playing field.
“We are looking forward to another fun packed day at Play-Wel this year! You know it’s going to be a great day when people are starting to talk about it weeks before the event,” Janine said.
“Apart from being an enjoyable way to raise money for a worthy cause, it’s a great networking opportunity. We have 16 different businesses all playing against each other, cheering each other on and generally banding together. It’s just a great day to be a part of.”
“The challenge has been the talk of the business community with 14 teams already registered including two new teams to the event, leaving only two spots available.”
Registration is $650 and includes green fees, lunch and customised playing jerseys for eights team members. To be eligible to participate, teams must also raise a minimum of $600, however many go the extra mile with their fundraising efforts in a bid to take home titles of ‘Team and Individual Fundraising Champion’.
The proceeds from Play-Wel for Mai-Wel 2016 will be allocated to the Creative Arts Program to purchase resources that provide all-inclusive art and performance opportunities for people with a disability or disadvantage in our local community.
