PKF Sydney and Newcastle has appointed Bob Bell as their new Managing Director, effective immediately.
Bob takes the reins from Steve Meyn who has been appointed to the role of PKF Australia Chair alongside the new CEO, Peter Cannan.
The leadership handover is a natural progression that is in keeping with the firm’s strategy.
During his tenure, Steve has overseen a decade of transformation in name, structure, size, technology and – most importantly – thought.
Newly appointed Managing Director, Bob Bell said he is excited to take over after a time of serious growth and looks forward to seeing that continue under his watch.
“We have invested in the people and technology that enables us to operate comfortably in the mid-tier of accounting firms, without losing the personal approach and relationships that have always been fundamental to the way we operate,” Bob said.
“My focus will be on listening – to my partners, our team, our clients, our referrers – the people who make us what we are, our greatest supporters but also our harshest – and most constructive – critics.”
Bob commenced his career with a small Sydney CBD firm in 1981 and commenced his own practice in 1988. After some time with a mid-tier firm, he co-founded Vouris & Bell in 1997 then merged with PKF (then Lawler Partners) in 2006.
Bob has led the Sydney Business Advisory and Forensic teams since that time, focusing on helping clients create efficiencies through automations, cloud-based working and finding the right solution to any business issue, something he plans to replicate across PKF Sydney and Newcastle.
“Succession in any organisation is a key part of the journey of being in business. The last 12 years has been one of opportunity, challenges, good times, and some tough times but above all the most rewarding of my career,” Steve said.
“The time is right for the next phase of the journey. I am excited about the future with Bob at the helm, my role of National Chair and continuing to provide Business Advisory Services within PKF Sydney and Newcastle.”
