Rebounding, bouncing back and overcoming adversity are very important parts of the sporting world, both on and off the field, which is why local businesses are coming together to host their second Sponsorship Education Seminar on Tuesday 23 July, 2019.
The event is open to female athletes of high school age and aims to help bridge the equity gap for male and female athletes.
Through the collaboration of four local businesses (Jenkins Legal Services, Monica Clare Recruitment, Property Solutions 101 and The Marketing GP) three elite female athletes will be speaking at the event, talking about how they have learned to be resilient in sport.
Basketball legend Cassidy McLean, football player Gema Simon and netballer Sam Poolman will share their stories, lessons and experiences with resilience in sport; with the sole purpose of helping our local young female athletes (and their supporters!) understand the importance of resilience in their sporting careers.
“Over the years I have seen the disparity in not only remuneration between male and female athletes, but also their access to athlete education,” Property Solutions 101 Director, Kylie Frearson said.
“So I wanted to work with other business owners to put on these events and provide this education to high school students.”
“Last year was our first event and we focused on talking to the young athletes about how they should start thinking about their personal brand and sponsorship opportunities essentially before their careers even officially start, this year we are looking at resilience and how to bounce back, ” Ms. Frearson said.
“Whether it be from injury, a missed shot, a lost sponsor, or simply an unsatisfying performance, everyone has bad days, but it is important to know how to come back from them so you can perform your best the next game.”
Attendees will hear about the personal stories of Cassidy, Gema and Sam, as well as have the opportunity to get a photo with the sports stars.
