Business networking and speaker organisation, Newcastle Business Club is this year celebrating its 85th year in operation.
Founded in 1933 as a means for five local businessmen to meet and discuss business, the club has grown to be an iconic networking group for the region.
Today the club holds regular luncheons for local businessmen and women, with each event offering networking opportunities and high profile local and nationally acclaimed speakers from all backgrounds and industries.
To celebrate the milestone, the club held its 85th Anniversary Gala Event on Friday 18 May. The event brought together past and present members and stakeholders to reflect on the history of the club.
Newcastle Business Club President, Holly Martin welcomed guests on the night and unveiled an 85th Anniversary Commemorative Film featuring past presidents, committee members and life members. The people featured were just some of the individuals who have made a difference to Newcastle Business Club over the past eight-and-a-half decades.
Holly said the film was well-received by the full house of attendees on the night and added to the celebration of the legacy of the Newcastle Business Club.
“It was fantastic to see so many of the people who have made the club what it is today in the same room together,” Holly said.
“Many of these people had not seen each other for years and relished the opportunity to reconnect.
“It was also fantastic to provide the opportunity for new members to meet people they have only heard stories about – people who have shaped the club.”
Stakeholders also received a commemorative 85th anniversary pin, something that will be provided to all 2018 members of Newcastle Business Club.
“When the club was first established, there wasn’t anything like it in the region,” Holly said.
“Today there is a much bigger range of networking and speaker organisations within the region, making it all the more remarkable that the Club has reached 85 years and continues to thrive.”
