New wellbeing program launches to help local business people

A new tool is being launched this month to help Hunter businesses do something practical and meaningful about creating a healthier, happier, and more productive workplace.

The online Way to Being Well program takes people through six steps to help them to revive their life. It focuses on all aspects of life to enhance psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

It has been developed by Wellbeings & Co, run by Hunter couple Garth and Susie Russell.

Susie said research proves that if staff can effectively manage stress and improve their wellbeing, businesses will see improvements in absenteeism, presenteeism, productivity, and staff engagement.

“The health of your business is dependent on the health of your people. It’s one thing for a business owner to say they care, and another to demonstrate it,” Susie said.

“We’re providing businesses with accessible, low cost, licensed packages of the full program to make available to their entire staff.

“Being online makes it easy for staff to do this individually, in groups, or in their own time and at their own pace.

“The program is practical with commonsense tips to bring happiness, prosperity, and understanding back into people’s daily life, and the lives of those around them.”

The program will be launched at a free business for forum to be held at Soul Café on 25 June.

Forum speakers include Lifeline Hunter’s, Pat Calabria and Bloomfield Coal’s Chief Corporate Services Officer, Renata Roberts.

Hunter man, Josh Dagg will share his story of how undertaking one of Wellbeings & Co’s programs profoundly changed his life. His employer had referred him to Wellbeings & Co. Josh said the program helped him to turn his life around to benefit him and his employer.

“After my marriage breakdown, I found myself feeling a level of emotion and anxiety that I never dreamed could be possible,” Josh said.

“The practical worksheets and personal videos from Garth and Susie give you ownership over your own life and tools to combat any conflict or crisis you may be facing.

“We often forget the simple things in life and what our priorities are.”

Garth said that the forum will give business leaders and human resource managers insights from local experts on good mental health and well-being in workplaces.

He said the new online program builds on the well-being and team-building workshops, coaching, and other well-being programs that he and Susie have been delivering over the past two years. COVID-19 facilitated them taking their programs online.

“An effective WHS initiative is one that gives staff tools to help them feel less stressed, to have more control over their lives and to have better relationships – at home and at work,” Garth said.

“We know our evidenced-based programs work because of our many satisfied clients who are actually living better quality lives, and because we have used every tool to work on ourselves and our relationship.”
