Milestones reached at ONE Apartments in Newcastle

GWH is making strides in the local construction and development industry with the recent completion of the podium and transfer slab at ONE Apartments. The company has also installed a second tower crane on the site, marking a new phase of progress for the project.

The podium, covering 2,500 square meters, required over 200 tonnes of steel and approximately 2,000 cubic meters of concrete to complete. This was poured in four stages, with the largest pour involving over 800 cubic meters of concrete – the equivalent of 120 concrete truck deliveries.

Each pour took approximately 10 hours, resulting in a total of 40 hours of pouring with over 50 team members involved.

‘The work that goes on behind the scenes to achieve this is enormous, and it’s a credit to the team to have reached this point. It is a continuation of our aim to build quality apartments’, GWH Director, Grahame Chevalley said.

To remain on schedule with the construction timeline, a second tower crane has been installed and will support the original tower crane to allow materials to move around the site efficiently, and safely.

‘It is a real sense of achievement, and it is so great to have such a fantastic group of people that all band together, because without such a wonderful team, none of this is possible,’ GWH Director, Jonathan Craig said.

While all eyes have been on what is happening on level four and above, there is no slowing down in the lower levels with apartments already being formed up, and essential services including electrical, and plumbing being laid out ready for connection.

‘One Apartments is an ambitious twin-tower development in the heart of Newcastle. The newly “topped out” podium skilfully addresses two street frontages which will soon see a defining plaza boasting impressive public art, further enriching the public domain of the CBD. ‘It has been inspirational to see such a lofty goal come to life. With tight time frames and high output, the team has shown tremendous effort,’ Stuart Campbell of CKDS Architecture said.

Remaining apartments start at $735,000 for one bedroom, $857,000 for two bedrooms, and $1,915,000 for three bedrooms.
