When local business leader, Brad Rogers shared his plans to abseil off McDonald Jones Stadium to raise funds for Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, his employer Rentokil Initial jumped on board to support him.
An initiative created by the WRHS, a total of 20 local leapers (including Brad’s partner Cassandra Agnew of oOh!media) will be taking the plunge and abseiling off the stadium on 14 August, all while raising as much money as possible for WRHS in the lead up.
Brad aims to raise funds through an online raffle with prizes sourced from local business, including $5,000 cash for first place, a Newcastle Knights corporate hospitality package, a year’s supply of pest control thanks to Rentokil Initial and a $500 food and beverage voucher at the Kent Hotel.
Rentokil Newcastle is generously contributing a further $5,000 cash on top of the raffle prize, adding the WRHS to its philanthropic support alongside Ronald McDonald House, Movember for Men’s Health, and Cerebral Palsy Foundation Australia.
Brad jumped at the opportunity to abseil off a football stadium while supporting WRHS, as he has a good mate who is alive today because of the free service the charity provides.
“I’ve always known about the WRHS, but when it comes close to home, the impact is really felt. I am really excited to be participating in such a great initiative in support of what is an iconic service for the region,” Brad said.
“As a local, I have always been focused on supporting the community, but it’s great to be working with a business who also feels this way.
“Supporting local, national and international charities is a big part of our DNA and the business is excited to add WRHS to the fold,” Brad said.
To help promote the cause, oOh!media has also donated over $15,000 in advertising assets to promote the raffle.
WRHS CEO, Richard Jones, said they were delighted to have the duo supporting WRHS.
“It’s great when individuals and organisations are aligned in supporting the community,” Richard said.
“The generously of Rentokil is fantastic, and will really help us to raise much needed funds.”
