Local businesswomen to get businesses activated

Four Hunter businesswomen are collaborating to help small business owners, all around regional NSW understand the essential areas they need to be focusing on within their business.

As small business owners themselves, Stacey Kelly (Seed People Consulting Founder), Sarah-Jane Dunford (Riskology and The Safety Academy of Australia), Amanda Gascoigne (Biz Buddy and Amanda Gascoigne – Accounting Firm Coach & Consultant) and Holly Martin (Chief Marketer of The Marketing GP) are experts in their fields.

Having worked with small businesses for many years, they are thrilled to be bringing The Business Activators workshop to towns across regional NSW, to educate small business owners on ways to ensure their business continues to grow and evolve.

Focused on the essential elements of human resources, marketing, finance, and WHS, the first workshop will be held in Port Stephens.

Holly said it can be tough being a small business owner.

“You need to be great at not only your product or service, but also all the other elements of running a small business,” Holly said.

This is something that these four women know all too well.

“When I started my business I just wanted to be able to help businesses with their WHS,” Sarah-Jane said.

“The biggest challenge was not delivering on that – it was actually all the elements that go into running a business!”

Sarah-Jane has been involved in many facets of managing WHS in roles as a Health, Safety and Environment Manager for multi-national organisations and in consultancy roles.

In Sarah-Jane’s session, she gives a practical understanding of the due diligence requirements for small to medium business owners and how to apply that in your workplace.

Holly will guide attendees through brainstorming their ideal client, as well as learning how to develop key messages and understanding how to leverage their marketing content.

Stacey’s session in the workshop will guide attendees through core people compliance requirements, as well as an informal and interactive Q&A segment, where she will answer any questions on all things HR.

“The years I have spent in HR have allowed me to help other business owners take their business to the next level – by getting the most out of their people and minimising their risks,” Stacey said.

Amanda Gascoigne is a Chartered Accountant and the only female tax practitioner to sit on the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) Single Touch Payroll (STP) Readiness Working Group.

In Amanda’s session, she will provide practical tips that she has shared with her clients for over 20 years. Attendees will leave the session with a whole new outlook and mindset on why it is so important to have ownership of their numbers, finance and taxes.

“Embracing your business’s numbers will change your life! It’s time to be empowered by them, to be more financially savvy, and to make better business decisions,” Amanda said.

Tickets for this 3-hour workshop are only $23 and include a light snack, handouts and takeaway templates.
