Australian band Firekites launched the music video of their title track ‘Closing Forever Sky’ at a premiere event at The Edwards Garage in their hometown of Newcastle on Thursday,10 March 2016.
More than 100 people attended the event, which was hosted by band members Tim McPhee, Ben Howe and Pegs Adams along with the team at Headjam Creative who collaborated with the band to produce the music video.
The stunning aesthetics of the 3D animated ‘Closing Forever Sky’ music video took more than six months and 700 hours to produce.
Firekites guitarist/ singer Tim McPhee said the band was excited to finally unveil the video and share it with the industry and their fans.
“Thinking back to that initial feeling when we first video the video it was kind of like taking a sneak peek into a Salvador Dali-esque dreamscape through a fishbowl filled with absinthe on a stormy summers night,” Tim said.
“We are forever grateful to the Headjam crew, firstly for conceiving then executing such an ambitious and truly beautiful video accompaniment to Closing Forever Sky.”
Headjam Managing Director, Luke Kellett said working with the Firekites to develop and produce the video was a pleasure, and truly highlights the talent that exists in the Newcastle and Hunter region.
“Since moving into our shared creative space, Innx on Parry Street, the level of production we have been able to undertake has risen to an international level,” Luke said. “We have access to the only film colour grading suite outside of capital cities within Australia. Many creative businesses within the building collaborate from different backgrounds to produce work like the Firekites Closing Forever Sky video.”
“It’s a rare situation to find ourselves in, sharing ideas with like-minded businesses and having the ability to produce work like this. Our creative vision can be realised technically now like never before.”
“In 2015 Headjam invested in a render farm that allows us to render high resolution 3D animated footage like never before. It allows us and all at Innx to be able to produce the next level of creative output for all our clients small or large, and we’re looking forward to it continuing.”
The “Closing Forever Sky” music video is now available to view and share online.
