Commitment to continuous improvement and a reputation for first-class customer service are the solid foundations the team at Backyard Grannys has laid, enabling its continued growth and evolution.
Launched as an extension to the residential and commercial building parent company Nulex Construction, the Bennetts Green-based, locally owned and operated business has created a sizable catalogue of contemporary granny flats that are fully built on site and can be modified to suit the individual needs of every client.
Having completed over 500 granny flats across the Newcastle, Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney regions during the past seven years, the award-winning construction company is never one to rest on its laurels.
Managing Director, Alex Mitchell said the business believes it is vitally important to talk regularly with their clients about the form and function they want in a granny flat.
“The Backyard Grannys team also keep a keen eye on emerging trends in construction and design to maintain a momentum of continuous innovation and improvement.”
Feedback combined with a potential new market opportunity for incorporating high-end architectural design resulted in the Newcastle Designer Granny Flats brand being recently launched, in a move that challenged the traditional concept of granny flats.
A specialty division of Backyard Grannys, the Newcastle Designer Granny Flats range of luxury designs have been created by a team of in-house architects to reflect the very latest in contemporary design and construction.
“The Newcastle Designer Granny Flats range is a whole new class of small home construction,” Alex said.
“Architecturally designed, fully constructed on site and finished to an impeccable standard.
“We treat each granny flat that we build as if it were our own and work collaboratively with each buyer each step of the way to ensure their granny flat is created.”
During the design process, the team provides advice on choice of colour scheme, interior and exterior finishes. All designs have the option of including the practical and on-trend combined indoor/outdoor space by opening-up the living room onto a covered or uncovered patio connected by large glass doors, adding the luxury of spaciousness to the abode.
This new approach to granny flat construction is the result of a true passion for innovation in construction, and of the lessons learned and risks taken by the creative forces behind Backyard Grannys since its launch in 2011.
The ability to adapt the latest in construction trends and contemporary building practice has seen the range of granny flat designs evolve to span eight contemporary and four designer options, all with the option of modification to suit the individual needs of the client.
Created with the goal to become the leading granny flat builders across Newcastle and the Central Coast, Alex Mitchell, and fellow Director Mark Neumann, have achieved their aims with the backing of a strong and dedicated team.
By responding to the needs of the market, Backyard Grannys has given itself a unique flexibility to tap into segmented customer bases.
And the multi-brand approach adopted by the business is paying dividends.
