In 2014, Hunter United employee Kirsty Maher was awarded one of four ‘Emerging Leader Tertiary / Vocational Education Scholarships’ at the World Credit Union Conference.

The national award recognises emerging leaders within the Mutual banking sector and provides a $3,000 scholarship to assist with the cost of undertaking a vocational or tertiary qualification course.

This month Kirsty will commence a Master of Business Administration at Deakin University.

“I chose Deakin because they offer high quality online courses allowing me to continue working full time at Hunter United while I study,” Kirsty said. “I will be able to put my new skills into practice immediately, adding value to Hunter United, ultimately benefiting our members.”

Kirsty has been with Hunter United for nine years, as part of the Finance team.

Hunter United’s CEO, Steve Martinelli said that the Board and the Hunter United team were proud of Kirsty receiving the scholarship.

“The award recognises the skills, expertise and experience of our staff and is recognition of the quality of Kirsty’s work,” Steve said.

“We are pleased to be able to support her in her on-going educational qualifications.”

The award is sponsored by CGU and presented in partnership with AM Institute. The 2014 World Credit Union Conference was held last year, on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
