Hunter TAFE focus on employable graduates

Late last year Hunter TAFE were awarded their funding contracts from the NSW Government, which will be delivered as part of the 2015 roll-out of the Smart and Skilled education reform.

Hunter TAFE CEO, Phil Cox, said that the contract allows Hunter TAFE to continue the provision of quality education, focusing on providing students of the region with innovative, high quality learning experiences and job-ready training outcomes.

“The success of our training is a result of significant work and consultation with the business sector and key stakeholders to ensure that the right levels of skills training and education for the region,” Phil said.

“As one of the nation’s largest regional training providers we are able to offer greater opportunities for students of Hunter TAFE that will mean even greater levels of program flexibility.”

“Employers in the Hunter region can also be confident that Hunter TAFE will produce highly skilled, employable graduates.”

Increased competition has encouraged Hunter TAFE to adjust not only how they provide training but also the cost of services.

“We pride ourselves on our quality and accessibility to training,” Phil continued.

“We are constantly looking beyond the traditional classroom to offer new training products, new ways of delivering those products and ways to build the right environment to deliver education and skills training for today and the future.”

“The contract allows for Government subsidised programs across many of these courses. For higher level Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses that might not be covered under the contract and remain in demand by students then fees will be kept affordable with additional VET Fee Help (HECS-style) fee structures put in place.”.

“Hunter TAFE’s focus and ultimate goal is to provide training that is relevant to our customer, business and industry needs.”
