For the fifth year running, registered Clubs throughout the Hunter region will support the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation by hosting a charity race day.
Coordinated by ClubsNSW, the event will be held on Saturday, 6 July 2013 and is expected to raise in excess of $20,000.
The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation is a volunteer organisation that provides more than 500 people each year with support including transportation to and from breast cancer treatment, comfort cushions following breast cancer surgery, assistance with house cleaning and lawn maintenance during treatment periods and provides young people who have lost a parent to breast cancer with some financial assistance for school and study.
Foundation President, Rosalie Taggart, said that it was wonderful for Clubs within the Hunter region to choose to support local people.
“Their commitment to this event has also come despite tough trading times in the Club sector caused by higher taxes, smoking bans and the economic downturn – for this extraordinary support we are most grateful,” Rosalie said.
Clubs NSW State Councillor for the Newcastle and Hunter Region, Jon Chin, said the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation did a magnificent job for local people despite not receiving any government funding.
“Local Clubs believe that this type of commitment to people in our community is worthy of ongoing support,” Jon said.
