Newcastle based coach, author and speaker Shivani Gupta will head to Pasadena, USA this week for the global launch of her new book I Love Myself.
She will be conducting book signings at the Balboa at Hay House conference in Pasadena on November 9 and 10.
Shivani says I Love Myself has been written to remind women that the most important relationship they have in their life is with themselves.
She says the starting point for achieving the often-elusive work-life balance and success in a woman's personal life and career is to love yourself.
“You can't ask people to love you or your work if you don't love it yourself,” Shivani says. “Sometimes other women and women's attitudes to themselves can be a barrier to achieving their goals.”
“When you start to love yourself you are better able to break recurring negative patterns in your life; you take charge of your life rather than waiting for things to happen.”
“Saying 'me first' sometimes is not selfish.”
“In the safety demonstration on a plane they sensibly tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others.”
The book is based on her research into self-esteem and personal development. She has conducted workshops for women since she founded her business Passionate People Institute more than 10 years ago. Her next I Love Myself workshop for women is in Newcastle on Wednesday, 19 March 2014.
Shivani says when you love yourself you get clear on what you are worth and take steps to be paid appropriately, without guilt.
“It helps you to market yourself, which is essential in business and community life.”
“When you love yourself it is easier to learn new communication styles, be more assertive, deal with challenging people and let unhelpful emotion go.”
This book is the second Shivani has penned this year. The other is Tough Love for Leaders.
The book is published by Balboa Press, a division of Hay House.
