Carrington based engineering firm, Power Control Engineers (PCE), is celebrating two decades of servicing Newcastle and the Hunter Valley in 2023.
PCE services a range of clients and industries throughout Australia including coal and metalliferous mining, bulk materials handling, utilities (power & water), energy, construction, manufacturing, defence, and local government.
Founded by the late Ken Bode in 2003, Power Control Engineers focus on servicing local heavy industry. PCE started out providing electrical power engineering services to the two aluminium smelters in the Hunter Valley – Tomago Aluminium Company and Hydro Aluminium Kurri Kurri.
Today, the company has more than 25 employees and almost 300 years of combined electrical engineering experience.
PCE Managing Director, Bryce Parker says that although the company has extensive time in the local market, it also feels fresh and new, with a vibrant young team, eager to develop themselves.
“It’s a really exciting time for PCE and our team, celebrating 20 years in business,” Bryce said.
“We have a unique mix of youth and experience, across industry veterans like Mark Second, who has over 40 years of experience, to our recent University of Newcastle graduates, and everyone in between.”
After joining PCE in February 2018, Bryce regaled a keen focus on developing the team and maturing PCE into the highly client focussed organisation that it is today.
“We focus heavily on emotional intelligence and client engagement training to ensure that every member of the team knows themselves first and understands our clients.
“What’s more, they can take this training home, and enrich their family lives and personal relationships. When looking at training, you can’t just focus on technical skills, you have to develop the human side too, more so in a client facing organisation like PCE,” Bryce said.
In the lead up to their 20th birthday, Bryce and the PCE senior leadership team has been embarking on an exciting brand refresh and will be launching a new website and ‘Count on us’ philosophy later this month.
“The ‘Count on us’ philosophy is an extension of one of our core values – reliability,” Bryce said.
“But it’s more than that. As our client you can count on us to make the best decisions for your business.
“We listen and seek to understand your pain points and work with you, because together we are stronger.
As an employee, you can count on us to build engineering expertise and create meaningful careers, to maximise time with family & friends, and to create a vibrant, healthy community.”
