GWG appoints new Senior Tech and Marcomms Recruiter

Leading multi-sector recruitment firm GWG has appointed talented local recruiter, Liz Folpp as their new Senior Consultant, Technology, Digital and Marketing.

Liz Folpp has more than seven years of experience in the recruitment industry, with an additional ten years of relationship management expertise, making her credentials a unique asset to the GWG team.

GWG’s CEO, Julie Gearie, said Liz’ appointment will help to grow the firms already strong track record across digital and technology recruitment.

“Our knowledge and experience in the tech sector are market leading and Liz’s appointment takes us to another level,” Julie said.

“Liz is a seasoned corporate recruiter, having worked with the region’s largest employers to successfully place professionals in diverse roles, from coordinators through to executives.

“She is professional, sincere and approachable – which is the perfect fit for our client base and our candidates.”

GWG’s Executive Director, James Grierson, said Liz comes at a time when the company is growing more than ever, due to the strong demand in the region.

“Despite the recent economic impact of COVID-19, the technology and digital sectors have remained buoyant,” James said.

James said that the demand for software developers, business analysts and project managers are highly sort after right now.

The firm are also seeing an increased demand for more specialist roles like UI, UX, CX, robotics engineers and cyber security professionals.

“We will now have three dedicated digital and technology specialists to provide coverage across traditional roles and emerging sectors,” he said.

“There has also been renewed demand for marketing professionals as companies plan for recovery and future growth.

“Liz is a subject matter expert across marketing and communications making her appointment timely.”

Previously with Hudson, specialising in digital and marketing, Liz says securing the best marketing and tech talent is more important than ever.

“COVID-19 has increased the need for talented technologists as companies expand their online offering to service customers and enable systems for employees to work and learn remotely,” Liz said.

“The pandemic has accelerated and highlighted the importance of digital transformation as the cornerstone for business survival and success.

“For these reasons I think we will continue to see strong demand for developers and designers, marketers and customer and user experience professionals now and into the future.”

Liz also commented on the most sought-after skills within the tech and marketing space. Based on recent events, she believes companies are looking for professionals with the ability to adapt and manage change.

“This is particularly true for digital, development and marketing professionals where both technology and methodology are rapidly evolving,” she said.

“Those who can interpret and analyse data to inform decision making and ROI will also be well placed.

“Candidates need to be life-long learners, expert communicators and have the ability to combine scientific and creative skills.”

A merging of the tech, digital, marketing and communications disciplines is another key observation Liz makes.

“The continued focus on digital transformation, customer experience, content creation and analytics mean candidates need to have strong cross functional skills.”

“Communications professionals need to understand analytics and socials platforms, and marketers need to have a deep understanding of communications and messaging – especially as we move through sensitive social, political and environmental issues.”

As well as agency recruitment, Liz has also recruited internally at AP Eagers, a large national automotive group who own more than 100 dealerships across Australia.

As the first ever recruiter within that organisation, she delivered important recruitment outcomes for the business, and a sense of purpose for the recruitment function.

“Essentially I created an end-to-end recruitment function that became integral to the business unit and company,” she said.

Liz has hit the ground running at GWG, with her calendar already full of candidate interviews and client meetings.

“ZOOM is a wonderful tool, however I’m really looking forward to connecting with local professionals, companies and GWG’s clients personally, as current restrictions hopefully continue to ease,” Liz concluded.
