Greater Bank recognised as Australia’s best customer-owned financial institution

Greater Bank has been named the 2020 best Customer-Owned Institution as part of Money magazine’s 16th annual Consumer Finance Awards.

It is the third consecutive year that Greater Bank has been recognised by Money magazine after receiving Home Lender of the Year in 2018 and 2019.

In February, the Hunter-based financial institution was also recognised at the DBM Australian Financial Awards award for Best Customer Service after being rated best in class by consumers.

These national achievements highlight Greater Bank’s reputation for quality service and great value amongst consumers and industry experts alike.

Greater Bank Chief Executive Officer, Scott Morgan, was proud to receive the Award which reinforces the value proposition that can be found outside the major banks.

“As one of the largest customer-owned banks in Australia, we have long lived by the principle of supporting the people and communities that support us. It’s what guides our decision making and underpin our operations,” he said.

“The COVID-19 crisis has further galvanised this position as customers turn to us for support during times of financial hardship. We want them to know that we are here for them when they need us most.

We continue to invest in our business to ensure we are providing competitively priced, quality products delivered in a way that reflects outstanding customer service.”

Scott said that the Award is a testament to Greater Bank’s customer focused mission and the dedication of their staff.

“This award is recognition of these standards and values and wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of knowledgeable and committed employees who deliver on this every day,” he said.

“Whether it be our customer-facing employees that work across our 57 branches throughout NSW and South East Queensland and our Newcastle-based contact centre, or those behind the scenes developing innovative products or services, each one play a key role every day in delivering outstanding products and services to our customers.”

In determining the Award, Greater Bank achieved the highest overall score among customer-owned institutions competing across six individual categories, including Home Lender, Personal Lender, Credit Card Issuer, Money Minder, Investment Lender and Business Banking.

Across NSW and South-East Queensland, Greater Bank has a customer base of more than 280,000 and over 700 employees who work to deliver the highest standards of service.
