Focus Finance recognised at National Mortgage Awards

Focus Finance recorded a clean sweep at the Australian Mortgage Awards 2025, with Managing Director, Katie Thomas named Australian Broker of the Year and Broker of the Year – Regional. The Newcastle-based brokerage added Brokerage of the Year (6–20 staff), while team member Maddison Brown was named Young Gun of the Year, positioning the firm’s local expertise among the country’s best.

Katie had earlier been named Australia’s Number 1 Broker by industry publication The Adviser, underscoring a strong year for the Hunter-region business and adding to national recognition across the mortgage and finance sector.

The awards were announced in Sydney on Saturday, 18 October 2025. The recognition highlighted continued growth in the brokerage model and the influence of women leaders within Australian finance.

Focus Finance said the business is built on a team-first approach.

Katie emphasised on empowerment of staff and fostering authentic collaboration, which had supported recent results.
“We have built the business to be team first. Empowering your team, elevating their worth, we all rise together,” Katie said. “If you’re sitting down having genuine, authentic human interaction, the ability to help each other succeed is phenomenal.”

Focus Finance is based in Newcastle and provides mortgage and finance services to clients across Australia.
