Lake Macquarie City Council’s Manager Organisational Performance, Laura Kendall was recently awarded the Ministers’ Award for Women in Local Government in the Non-Senior Staff Member ‚Äì Rural or Regional Council category.

In 2014, when Laura was Assistant Manager Assets, she accepted a six-month secondment to Broken Hill City Council as Assistant General Manager. During her time there, she coordinated a workforce review and significant organisational restructure.

“Laura’s professionalism and sensitive approach was admired and respected by all during her secondment at Broken Hill City Council,” Brian said.

“Since returning from Broken Hill, Laura continues to demonstrate the benefits of taking opportunities, even when they present challenges.”

At the completion of her secondment, Laura was promoted to Manager Organisational Performance at Lake Macquarie City Council.

The winners of the 2015 Awards were presented by the Minister for Local Government, the Hon Paul Toole MP, and the Minister for Women, the Hon Pru Goward MP, at a function at Parliament House held as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

The Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government celebrate the contribution of women to local government in NSW. In addition to recognising the significant contribution of award winners, the Awards aim to encourage more women to take on leadership roles in local government in NSW.
