Coastal Fire Services, a Hunter-based commercial fire protection company, is celebrating a decade in business in 2024.
From humble beginnings, their team had a mission to offer unmatched fire safety solutions to the community, envisioning a company that not only met but exceeded industry standards.
The team originally consisted of firefighters and electrical tradespeople, who identified that changes in legislation meant property managers, landlords and businesses were at risk of non-compliance.
Updated provisions to the Australian Standard in 2006 meant that anyone who did not comply with smoke alarm minimum requirements was guilty of an offence.
Fire & Rescue NSW recommended that owners and occupants of homes should consider higher levels of protection to ensure their safety.
Managing Director of Coastal Fire Services, Heath Aland said they wanted to help housing providers and homeowners ensure that they were compliant with industry standards, not just for legal reasons, but for the safety of those in our community.
“Our goal has always been to ensure the utmost safety of home occupants when it comes to fire protection, which is why we strive to provide services that go above and beyond the legal requirements,” Heath said.
Now celebrating a decade in business, Director and General Manager Adrian Sutherland, said that the achievement is a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and vision of the team that has shaped Coastal Fire Services into what it is today.
“It’s very special to be celebrating 10 years of business for Coastal Fire Services. From small beginnings to where we are now, it’s been quite the ride,” Adrian said.
“It wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible team, clients, and the support of our community.”
The biggest shift in Coastal Fire Services’ business journey came when they transitioned from residential smoke alarm servicing to comprehensive commercial property fire servicing.
“Just as our residential arm grew organically, so did our commercial arm,” Director & Financial Controller, Matthew Hunt reflects.
“We’ve been fortunate to strengthen the Coastal team with a group of highly qualified fire servicing professionals who continue to deliver great service and expand that part of the business.”
With their growth, Coastal Fire Services have taken several opportunities to give back to the community through partnerships with many organisations including Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, Divas on the Green, Mark Hughes Foundation, Sleapy’s Foundation, and local sporting teams.
“We hope to continue supporting our local community, to be renowned for delivering a quality service, and to be a local employer of choice for people wanting to work in the fire servicing industry,” Matthew concluded.
