One of the Hunter’s best live music venues has received an extensive refurbishment and is now bringing some of the music industry’s best back to the region.
Belmont 16s’ newly renovated Spinnaker auditorium will host an impressive line-up of local and international acts.
Belmont 16s CEO, Scott Williams, said that the club has always been a popular venue for bands and audiences, fitting in with the Newcastle region’s love of live music.
“The Club’s part in this is clearly demonstrated by the resurgence of bands from the 80s and 90s as well as more recent national and international acts booked for 2013 and beyond,’ Scott said.
The new auditorium also includes a Wall of Fame, paying homage to the many acts that have appeared at the venue since it opened in 1980. Some Wall of Fame inductions include John Farnham, Australian Crawl, Marcia Hines,Midnight Oil, Kamahl and Rodney Rude.
One of the clubs most popular acts from the early days was INXS, who at $5 a ticket, packed the auditorium with more than 1000 people.
The refurbished Spinnaker auditorium features new carpets and colour scheme, new artists’ change rooms, improved bathrooms including disabled access. The catering room has been renovated and the bar has also been rebuilt.
The Angels, Beccy Cole, Anthony Callea and comedian Akmal are set to grace the Spinnakers stage in the coming weeks and months.
