Hunter TAFE Foundation appoints new President

The Hunter TAFE Foundation has acknowledged outgoing Foundation President, Gary Webb on his 14 years of commitment and contribution to the work of the Foundation in supporting local TAFE NSW students.

Upon announcing his resignation as President and Director at their August board meeting Gary welcomed their newly elected President, Karen Howard.

“It’s been both a pleasure and privilege to be part of an organisation that has had such a profound and positive impact on the lives of TAFE NSW students across the Hunter and Central Coast,” Gary said.

“The Board unanimously elected Karen Howard as President and I know that she will lead the organization to build on the existing supports for students in need in our Region.”

As a proud Hunter TAFE Alumni, in 2013 Karen was awarded the Hunter TAFE Inaugural Alumni Award for Contribution to Business.

For over 21 years, Karen has established and operated her own successful businesses in the Hunter whilst concurrently serving as a Non-Executive Director and Independent Chairperson on not-for profit, private, charity, and government boards in the Hunter, Sydney, and Canberra.

“Successful Foundations respect their history and embrace their future, and the Hunter TAFE Foundation embodies this mantra,” Karen said.

“On behalf of the Hunter TAFE Foundation Board, sponsors, and the students we support, I’d like to very sincerely thank Gary for his significant contributions and efforts in leading the Foundation since being elected President in January 2019.

“Further strengthening our linkages into valued Hunter business networks, we’d like to warmly welcome local businessman Colin Law to the Board of the Foundation, joining myself and existing Directors Kay Peno, Joss De Iuliis, Mark Breasley, Cameron Denny, and Susie George,” Karen concluded.

The Hunter TAFE Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation working with business, education, and community leaders to support education and training at TAFE NSW in the Hunter and Central Coast region.

Established in 2000, the Foundation provides financial support to TAFE NSW students in the Hunter and Central Coast, who are experiencing either personal or financial hardship to assist them in completing their studies.
