Mim Jenkinson from Newcastle, who founded the mum blog Love from Mim, has been named AusMumpreneur NSW Business Excellence Award winner.
The awards were held at White Night Receptions, Melbourne where talented mums in business from across the country gathered to support and encourage other Australian mumpreneurs.
Mim said she was excited to win in her category in the 2018 AusMumpreneur Awards against such a talented group of women.
“Winning was a huge shock, but a very happy one! I’m delighted that the work I do in helping other mums start their own businesses, stay organised and my efforts in raising awareness of breast cancer have been rewarded by this award,” Mim said.
“In November 2015 I was personally diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. My gruelling chemo and radiation regime meant that I had to leave a well-paid consulting role.
“I turned to my hobby blog for both writing therapy and income. Since then, I have worked with some great Aussie brands that my family loves and rates. We work on advertising and sponsorship campaigns that allow me to share the products and services that make my life easier, with other Aussie mums.
Mim said the other women nominated at the awards were all exceptionally talented and passionate about what they do. “It must have been an incredibly tough decision for the judges to make.”
AusMumpreneur was created to support Australian entrepreneurs like Mim and her fellow AusMumpreneur Award winners, Cofounder of AusMumpreneur Peace Mitchell said.
“These awards are all about recognising the growing number of mums who are achieving outstanding business success while balancing motherhood,” Peace said.
“I was blown away by the entrepreneurial spirit, resilience and professionalism of the award winners and I know that they will provide great inspiration for other mums considering starting their own business.”
This is the ninth year the AusMumpreneur Awards have run, with the business mum community growing at lightning speed as mothers look for opportunities to join the ranks of small business owners in search of more flexibility, financial freedom and family time.
AusMumpreneur Network Co-founder, Katy Garner said the awards show the passion of women who want to fulfil their entrepreneurial dreams as well as be great mums.
“The number of women starting businesses has continued to grow in the past 12 months. Of the 668,670 women operating a small business in Australia currently, a total of 47 per cent are mums with children at home. We are thrilled to be the number one community for mumpreneurs and proud to showcase the best and the brightest each year through these awards,” Katy said.
“We are delighted that Mim has won this award, she has created an outstanding business and is an inspirational role model and ambassador for mums in business everywhere. We wish her and all our amazing Ausmumpreneur Award winners every success in the coming year,” Peace said.
There are 30 categories in the 2018 AusMumpreneur Awards, with 26 judged and four open to public voting.
