Checks and balances
The end of April is nigh. It sounds so ominous, yet if we look at it, we have a couple of months until the end of the financial year. This gives us the chance to do a little stocktake; to address a few budgetary requirements.
We can review the budget for 2017/18 and look at any low hanging fruit that may help improve our position. The small things we wanted to do or achieve this financial year.
All going well, you are ahead of budget which puts you in a position to shore up some items before we head into 2018/19.
It’s all about checks and balances. We are not talking about a bureaucratic system here, it’s a case of readdressing the plan that was put in place ten months ago. To ensure you have control of your surrounds and that there will be no surprises come time to talk to your accountant.
We can take this a step further and move away from the work life. Have a look at yourself and see if the ideology you had for yourself in 2018 is coming to the fore. If not – and like most of us you thought about this late December or early January – it’s definitely not too late to get back on track. Remember, unlike the financial year that ends in a couple of months, we still have eight months to sort ourselves out if we are going on calendar years.
At the end of the year we reflect, during the year we review, and it’s at this time we can change. Little adjustments here and there can make all the difference; this goes for your work life and your social life. The team at HunterNet is in an enviable position where we get to meet with businesses and, more importantly, the people that work in those businesses every single day. We see giant strides when small things are put in place inside a business. We see giant leaps when people have a laugh and engage in conversation at any number of events. That smile that laugh, that conversation could be part of the change and the satisfaction that comes from that is unquantifiable.
We have time to put our own checks and balances in place – maybe now is that time.
