Strategic Group know the value of keeping employees happy and healthy, so have kicked of 2016 with the development of some new initiatives.
STRATEGICMove is a concept developed by Strategic Group to get their employees active and healthy. Staff members who wish to participate receive a Fitbit and join the other participants in tracking their steps and aiming to hit their target every day. The group, which includes staff and any family members who want to participate, meet after work two times a week to participate in a walk/run or swim. At the end of each quarter employees are able to select a charity of their choice and Strategic Group will make a donation, the only catch is the group needs to hit their step target!
CEO of Strategic Group, Chris Boswell, said he understands the value of rewarding and recognising staff and has developed some impressive incentives.
“We recognise that a healthy employee has many business benefits, but we are also keen to look at new and innovative ways to benefit charities in our local regions,” Chris said. “This initiative is just one more way that we can further engage our staff and enhance the broader communities that we live in.”
Strategic Group have also put in place new initiatives that revolve around allowing employees to take bonuses or rewards in different ways.
“Not everyone wants to take bonuses or rewards in the form of money. For this reason, we have set about structuring a range of incentives that better reflect the individual staff members’ needs and provide greater incentive to continue their excellent performance.”
Chris has seen the value in offering employees a rewarding environment, with Strategic Group already having birthday and volunteer leave in place. Employees get an extra day of paid leave every year which they can take around their birthday. Community involvement is part of the culture at Strategic Group and is reflected in their volunteer leave which allows employees to take off extra leave to volunteer for charities or causes of their choice.
“We feel it is part of our corporate duty to give back to our communities. This can be as simple as volunteering for the local SES service, or spending time supporting some of the many wonderful charities in our areas,” Chris continued.
“One of our goals is to enhance our staff’s lives, and part of this is to enable and encourage them to give back to the broader community.”
Each employee at Strategic Group also has the opportunity to attend external training days or complete courses, and progress within the company.
“We recognise that our staff want, and need, to know what their options and opportunities are for their career paths. The last thing we want would be to lose great people, simply because we had not invested the time in them to understand what they wanted and to see if we can provide that result.”
“We have been fortunate to see significant growth over the past few years and with growth comes challenges. The main challenge, that far surpasses all others, was to clearly understand who we are and what we stand for (in essence, our culture), and to ensure that all our recruitment reflects our core values,” Chris concluded.
