Meet our speakers:

Claudia Tolhurst joined the Hunter Melanoma Foundation (HMF) in 2016 as a volunteer on the Management Committee. After 4 years in that role, she sought a career change and took on the role of Executive Officer in 2019. As HMF’s only paid employee, Claudia understands that sharing expertise and resources not only helps HMF achieve their goals, but also benefits the community HMF services.

Abbey McDonell embarked on her nonprofit journey with Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) in 2019 where she fell in love with the not-for-profit sector. She transitioned over to a staff role with Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation in 2021, getting a feel for working within a smaller not-for-profit organisation. Abbey stepped into the General Manager position in 2022. Her passion for working in the nonprofit sector thrives working within a small close-knit team at HBCF, that offers unique collaborative opportunities with local entities, uniting efforts to achieve shared community-centric goals.
