Transqual Pty Ltd is working closely with a number of job seekers in Australia to provide the necessary training to get them back into work.

The business has received government funding to assist with the NSW Smart and Skilled program, which aims to help people acquire the skills they need for their first step onto the transport industry career ladder. Training completed under the Smart and Skilled program is subsidised by the NSW Government.

COO of Transqual, Chris McCloy, said each course provided is adapted to suit each unique situation and requirement.

“We know no two jobs are the same. So, we talk directly to our industry partners to find out what they want from prospective employees, and then tailor our courses to that specification. This means we are sending job seekers to interviews with exactly the skills and qualifications they need for the job,” Chris said.

The training Transqual delivers is nationally accredited, and often has a licensing outcome. For instance, a job seeker might get a forklift or heavy vehicle license, making them much more employable than they would be otherwise. Likewise, they also offer training on a range of safety procedures.

Transqual also connect current students with jobs available in the industry to help fulfil requirements and provide a pathway for new industry leaders.

“We care about the job seekers that come to us, and that’s why we have a board in the office that is updated regularly with relevant postings from Seek. This means that while students are going through training, they are constantly aware of the jobs that are available to them,” Chris said.

One of Transqual’s most successful partnerships has been with employment services provider, Workskil Australia, which delivers jobactive services for over 3,000 job seekers across the Hunter region. In 2016, they had 55 job seekers from Workskil Australia undertake their nationally accredited training, with 31 commencing employment after the intervention, providing a solid conversion rate of 56 per cent.

Site Manager at Workskil Australia, Lisa Woodrow, said that the training Transqual provides has improved the employment prospects of people who previously had a limited skill base to draw from.

“This training is particularly beneficial in providing an opportunity for the large number of unskilled, unemployed, blue collar jobseekers who have had only limited interest to date in taking up the option of Smart and Skilled funded training to improve their employment prospects. The practical delivery model and the tangible benefit of gaining industry tickets make these courses very popular.”

Transqual is the largest privately owned RTO that provides an extensive range of logistic training services.
