The Hunter Collective promotes collaboration

Two local businesswomen have joined forces to launch The Hunter Collective. The brainchild of ‘connector’ Heidi Alexandra Pollard of UQ Power and ‘innovator’ Christina Gerakiteys of Ideation at Work, their inaugural event will play host to three inspiring female entrepreneurs who have challenged their industries and travelled their own unique paths.

The event lineup headlines with Lisa Messenger, Founder and Editor in Chief, Renegade Collective Magazine, who will share how she has turned the magazine industry on its head.

Still in the media vein, Jane Huxley, Managing Director, Pandora Internet Radio will discuss bringing free and uniquely customised streaming radio to people around Australia and New Zealand.

Rounding out the speakers list, Pinky McKay, best-selling author, speaker and lactation consultant will discuss her successful approach to developing a business out of providing real-world, no-nonsense, parenting support.

Heidi Alexandra Pollard said that the Joined Up Innovation report, released earlier this year by Microsoft, highlighted the fact that in order for SMEs to succeed, collaboration must be considered a priority.

“The opportunity for collaborations between businesses in the Hunter Region is immense – and it’s intensifying,” Heidi said.

“Thanks to organisations such as the Hunter Business Chamber, genXwomen, Women In Business Connect, BNI groups, Newcastle Business Club, Newcastle Institute, several alumni groups, Hunter Business Women’s Network, The Professional Communicators’ Network and others, there are great opportunities to network and to learn, to support and enrich business locally.”

“We have so many great speakers within our local networks but if we don’t travel to major centres, opportunities to expand knowledge are limited. That was the inspiration for The Hunter Collective.”

Christina continued, stating that it’s vital to have access to keynote speaker that are external to the Hunter and that’s why they have invited them to Newcastle.

“We want to bring some game changers, thought leaders and renegades here. It’s twofold ‚Äì we also want them to see how creative, innovative, collaborative and entrepreneurial we are in the Hunter,” she said.
