Singleton Council is inviting the community to comment on its draft Asset Management Plans and draft Asset Management Strategy after they went on exhibition last Friday.
The asset management plans include data and analysis of all of Council’s assets as well as identifying levels of services, life cycle management strategies, financial forecasting and improvement plans for Council’s infrastructure assets.
Council has prepared draft Asset Management Plans (AMPs) for each of its asset categories being Council Buildings; Parks and Reserves; Sewerage Services; Urban Stormwater Drainage; Water Supply Services; and Transport Infrastructure.
In addition, Council has developed a draft Asset Management Strategy to support and implement the Asset Management Policy adopted by Council in 2012.
Singleton Council General Manager Lindy Hyam says the draft AMPs will enable Council to construct Long Term Financial Plans that ensure current and future infrastructure assets will be functional and financially viable for years to come.
“The replacement cost or value of all Council’s assets is $494.7 million,” she said. “This is an enormous responsibility and one Council takes very seriously.”
“Our buildings, which include the library, Civic Centre, public toilets, saleyards, administration centre, community facilities and Gym & Swim, are valued at more than $57 million.”
“Our roads, bridges, footpaths, car parks, bus shelters and traffic facilities are valued at more than $200 million, while our water and sewer assets are worth a combined $161.25 million.”
“An assessment of our asset management maturity showed a number of areas for improvement. Our draft Asset Management Strategy details an action plan to make improvements that will ensure long term financial sustainability of our assets and that the service needs of our community are being met.”
The draft AMPs and draft Asset Management Strategy will be on exhibition until Friday 3 October. The documents can be viewed online, at Council’s Customer Service Centre, Queen St and Singleton Library.
