Shivani asked to help “young and lazy”

Newcastle-based personal and business leadership coach and author Shivani Gupta will be back on TV screens in March.

Shivani is making an appearance in an episode of Channel 7’s new reality TV series Young, Lazy & Driving Us Crazy that commences tomorrow night (February 13 at 9pm).

The eight week series follows the lives of a group of pampered young adults aged between 18 and 23 as they are thrown into the adult world of responsibility for the first time and against their will.

Shivani appears in Episode seven (to air March 27). She said her no-nonsense coaching skills were put to the test as she spent a fair bit of one on one time with the contestants to help them to get a better insight into themselves and to unlock their passion.

Shivani said filming the series took place in Bondi in June and July last year.

“It was good fun and exciting to be able to help people,” Shivani said. “I haven’t seen the finished show yet so I am not sure how much of my shoot will end up in that episode of the show.”

Shivani’s last TV appearance was when she hosted the 2008, four part, series Risking It All on SBS. That series followed the trials and tribulations of four start up small businesses. It attracted more than 2.1 million, making it the highest rating SBS show for its timeslot in more than six years. It was re-screened in 2009.

In Young, Lazy & Driving Us Crazy, the ten contestants, recruited from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, have been waited on hand and foot their whole lives and their parents are now fed up. In the show the contestants have to live together and gain work. Each week they compete in different challenges, set by their parents, to determine their maturity level. The parents will ultimately determine the fate of the contestants, voting out the individual deemed to have put in the least amount of effort each week. The contestant who adapts most successfully to the world of adulthood will receive a $20,000 trust fund.

The TV appearance tops off a big year for Shivani during which the mother of four wrote and had two books published (I Love Myself and Tough Love for Leaders). She did this while running her coaching business Passionate People Institute, her keynote speaking business and overseeing two Newcastle endota day spas that she co-owns with her husband.
