Respected Media Executive and Wests Tigers Chair in Newcastle for Hunter Writers Festival

From Editor of Dolly at the age of 23 to CEO of Australia’s leading digital publisher by her forties, Marina Go is in Newcastle this week to inspire the next generation of female leaders to take their rightful place at the top.

Marina will participate in a special lunch on April 7 as part of the fifth Newcastle Writers Festival and in partnership with Gen Collective, where she will speak to NBN News Presenter, Natasha Beyersdorf, about her book, Break Through.

The book provides an in-depth analysis of the 20 leadership traits that make a successful woman – providing the tools to help women turn their personal vision of success into a reality.

Marina defines success as the ability to achieve the goals she sets for herself. In this deeply personal book, she talks candidly about the challenges and triumphs she has faced in her 30-year career as a leader in the media and publishing industry.

“I am looking forward to speaking at the Newcastle Writers Festival about my book, which outlines what I have learnt about leadership across my diverse career,” Marina said.

“One of my key beliefs is that transformational change for female leadership requires us to think beyond our personal goals with the bigger picture in mind.”

Director for Newcastle Writers Festival, Rosemarie Milsom, said Marina’s presence in the region is very welcome for young women looking to find their way as professionals.

“Marina represents strong but fair leadership and she has worked in many male-dominated businesses,” Rosemarie said.

“She is a strong believer in giving back and is known for mentoring younger women and enabling the success of others. It will be fascinating to hear her talk about her experiences.”

The Newcastle Writers Festival offers an extensive program of paid and free events inspired by this year’s inspiration – the power of story.

“It strikes me that when we shut off from each other and fail to listen to each other’s stories, we risk losing our empathy. In creating this year’s program I wanted to celebrate the power that storytelling has to unify us,” Rosemarie said.

The festival takes place from 7-9 April 2017. Tickets are available through Newcastle Writer’s Festival.
