Port Stephens businesswomen to host annual fundraising lunch

Port Stephens Women in Business (PSWIB) will hold its annual fundraising lunch on Friday, July 29, 2016. The theme for the event is ‘Women Empowering Women’ and attendees will hear addresses from four influential Hunter businesswomen:

  • Kate Washington, MP – State Member for Port Stephens and Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education, Shadow Minister for the Hunter;
  • Mel Histon – from the Got Your Back Sista Charity – the spirit of ‘The Sista Code’ is to uplift, inspire and support other women, including our most vulnerable ‘sistas’, those who have escaped a violent relationship and must start their lives again;
  • Kim McGann – beauty and success coach for women – will present The Lift Program, a mix of business coaching and personal branding through skin care and makeup to have women in business looking and feeling their best; and
  • Tracey Friend – Manager, Corporate Strategy and Planning at Milskil, is a highly regarded operational leader with 29 years of experience in the military aviation sector.

PSWIB President, Kylie Smiley, said the event is an awareness raising and fundraising venture for The Yacaaba Centre.

“PSWIB is committed to supporting our local Yacaaba Centre counselling and information service which is dedicated to helping families dealing with domestic violence issues,” Kylie said.

“Last year we raised $2,000 for the cause and hope to exceed that with this event. We will be running a raffle so if anyone would like to donate a prize we would love to hear from you!”

The event is open to everyone, not just members, and PSWIB is encouraging local organisations to buy a table and support the event and the Yacaaba Centre

“We’d like to thank our supporters Horizons Golf Resort for providing the venue free of charge and, with Fourth Wave Wine Partners, for the glasses of sparkling wine on arrival,” Kylie concluded.

PSWIB is a not-for-profit organisation based in Port Stephens. PSWIB began as an initiative of a group of businesswomen who saw the need to help, support and encourage local businesses.
