PERSAS awarded new industry certifications

Hunter-based industrial business, PERSAS, has further cemented its commitment to health and safety at work by adding two additional certifications to its list.

The AS/NZS 4801 and ISO14001 join the ISO9001 standard PERSAS currently holds.

Working with industry and an increased output over recent years was behind the decision to go the extra mile to become certified and implement additional practices to keep staff and site visitors to the workshop safe.

PERSAS’ Managing Director, Brett Williamson, said it has become increasingly important for the business to invest in systems that comply with the two certifications and to upskill in an area that will benefit the team and business.

“We like to keep our business growing. Not just from a sales perspective, but in terms of continuous improvement,” Brett said.

“Our dedication to continuous training also builds trust and ensures our clients can rely on us for their work needs.”

Though the certification process was no easy feat, Brett said the business is proud to offer competitive industry knowledge which can then be passed on to clients.

“Our team don’t just clock in and clock out. They’re here to educate themselves and clients about the value of our range of products and maintain them so you can rely on us for the long-haul,” Brett said.

The certification process entailed eight steps, requiring dedication and a comprehensive understanding of what’s expected. The AS/NZS 4801 is the standard is the benchmark in assessing Occupational Health and Safety across management systems.

The certificate helped PERSAS develop and implement policies and objectives that align with the team’s knowledge. It allowed PERSAS to demonstrate their control over hazards and risks in the workplace.

To really put the business ahead of the pack, the team also applied for the ISO14001 standard in the same period. Having covered the team with the appropriate approach to safety, this standard saw PERSAS doing their bit for the environment.

The internationally accepted standard offers advice on implementing an effective environmental management system.

“But the job isn’t over – one of the most important parts of ISO14001 is maintenance. Our team ensures they are constantly working within their newest quality management systems,” Brett said.

“Their commitment allows PERSAS to continue leading the industry as the number one provider of everything our customers need to maximise the utilisation of equipment, including genuine parts, service, technical support, and training. The additional certifications also allows worker safety and environmental responsibility to be prioritised,” said Brett.

PERSAS will be celebrating their 35-year anniversary in 2020, with this news just making up one part of the celebrations for the business.
